What this site records when you watch or download a video, and how long it keeps it.

What is recorded

For each video, the site counts page views, plays, how far through people watched (25%, 50%, 75%, finished) and downloads. Alongside each of those counts it stores:

The visitor id

Your IP address is never stored. Instead the site computes a keyed hash of your IP address and browser using a secret that only the server knows, mixed with today's date. That gives a value that can tell two visitors apart on the same day, but which cannot be turned back into an IP address and which changes every night. A plain hash of an IP address would not be good enough: there are only about four billion possible addresses, so an unkeyed hash can be reversed by simply trying them all.

How long it is kept

The detailed rows above are deleted after 999 days. Before deletion they are added up into per-day totals per video, and those totals โ€” plain numbers, with nothing identifying in them โ€” are kept indefinitely so long-term viewing figures still work.

Cookies

One cookie is used, to remember your sign-in and any access codes you have entered during your visit. There is no advertising, no analytics service, and nothing on these pages is loaded from another company's servers.

Your rights

If you want to know what is held about you, or want it removed, contact the site owner. Because the visitor id is deliberately not reversible, the practical way to find your records is to tell us roughly when you watched and which video.
